About the Teacher

3-5 Art With Mr. Marshall

Hello Archway Lincoln families, my name is Matthew Marshall and I will be your scholar's art teacher for this school year! I am very excited to continue teaching art given current circumstances. For those who have not met me yet I will give a little background on myself and the class. This is my sixth year teaching art for Great Hearts Academies and my third year as a specialist at Archway Lincoln. I was born and raised right here in Chandler, AZ and studied painting and art history at Arizona State University. After graduating in 2014, I have continued my studio practice participating in group and solo exhibitions both in the valley and abroad. In 2016 I participated as an artist in residence through the Art For Change Foundation in New Delhi, India.

Art is my passion and I seek to constantly grow and learn more about the subject I am lucky enough to teach. This passion pours over into the classroom as I seek to build your scholars relationship with art. Students will become familiar new techniques, history, theory and science, all while creating beautiful projects based on a wide array of artistic movements. These ideas and practices will help them develop creative minds that can adapt and problem solve in real time. These skills aim to help scholars develop as citizens and to recognize beauty and build bridges between themselves and other cultures.

I am grateful for the opportunity to be your student's art teacher this year and I am looking forward to seeing what they create! If there are any questions or concerns, I am always available via email or for a quick phone call.
